Australian Sponsored Migration Scheme

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)

 The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Australian employers to sponsor employees who are foreign nationals for a permanent visa to live and work in regional Australia. There are three streams available to employees: The Temporary Residence Transition stream, The Direct Entry stream, and The Agreement stream. Temporary Residence Transition stream If you are currently a subclass 457 visa holder, you may be eligible under the Temporary Residence Transition stream if you have worked for your employer for two years in the nominated occupation employer wants to offer you a permanent position occupation. 

 

 To qualify under this stream, the visa applicant must: Be less than 50 years of age when making the application; Have worked for the nominating employer for two years in the nominated occupation;

Be nominated by an approved Australian employer who will sponsor you in a position in regional Australia; Be employed in a place that matches, or closely aligns with their subclass 457 visa position; Be paid the market rate; Have at least vocational English (IELTS of 5 for each of the 4 test components). For both the Temporary Residence Transition Stream and the Direct Entry stream, there may be exemptions available in limited circumstances for age, skills, and language requirements. The Direct Entry stream applicants who never have, or only briefly, worked in the Australian labor market or have not held a subclass 457 visa for the last two years with the nominating Australian employer, but who have an employer willing to sponsor them to live and work in regional Australia. 

 

 To qualify under this stream, the visa applicant must: Be less than 50 years of age when making the application; Be nominated by an approved Australian employer, who will sponsor them in a position in regional Australia; Be paid the market rate; Have undertaken and received a positive skills assessment and have the relevant work experience; Provide evidence of at least three years of relevant work experience; Be nominated in an eligible occupation; Have applied to and received advice from a Regional Certifying Body (RCB); and Have competent English (IELTS of 5 for each of the 4 test components). 

 

 Regional Certifying Body for the Direct Entry stream, the Australian employer must apply to an RCB, who will then provide advice to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship with regards to the occupation in that part of regional Australia. This will include information on whether there is a genuine need for a paid employee to work in that position, whether the situation may be filled by an Australian citizen living in that local area, and whether the conditions of employment will be equal to that of an Australian citizen in that position.

 

The Agreement stream is for applicants sponsored by an employer through a Labour Agreement or a regional migration agreement. Criteria for the employer To participate in the Regional Migration Scheme, the employer must be actively and lawfully operating a local business Australia Have a genuine need paid employee to fill a position in their company; Pay a market salary rate; Offer a skilled job in the applicant’s field that is full-time and ongoing for two years; The area is located in regional Australia; The tasks to be performed in the position correspond to the functions of an occupation at a skill level of ANZSCO skill level 1 2 3 Follow all relevant Australian laws and satisfactory record of meeting immigration laws if applicable. If you are nominating an employee under the Temporary Residence Transition stream, you must continue to meet the training requirements that you fit under the 457 visa program.
